Tightening the purse string; a war of sacrifices.

As war engulfed the school, and engulfed it did, it effected many changes. The School had owned land at Waterloo Road, Cobridge which had previously been leased to Port Vale Football Club for £40 per year for their football pitch (the Athletic Ground). As financial pressures mounted, the School governors were forced to sell the land to raise funds.
